Process

The advantages gained through layered manufacturing include:

  1. Cost advantage
  2. Low carbon footprint
  3. High dimensional accuracy
  4. Shortening of lead times
  5. Reduction in waste material ratio (from 55% to as low as 5%)

In the project, fixture designs were reimagined to be suitable for layered manufacturing. The steel fixture components previously used were replaced with carbon-infused PA (polyamide) parts, meeting the expected requirements.

Additional innovation in the project: Layered manufacturing brought design improvements to the produced fixture components. Channels were incorporated into the parts, allowing the transfer of cooling fluid to the processing area, resulting in better cooling and preventing scratches on profile surfaces caused by chips
